To family and friends! Join us at the Alden Homestead for our annual meeting and reunion. Following our business meeting and luncheon, we will have a presentation by Jill M. Hall, expert in Pilgrim clothing and textile traditions.

The story of Priscilla spinning while John worked up the courage to speak for himself is well known. Yet, how much if any spinning happened during the earliest years in the new world? In her talk entitled The Truth about Priscilla, Ms. Hall will explore the history of fiber processing and textile production in the early years of the Plymouth Colony.

Throughout the day, there will be many interesting items to bid on in our Silent Auction and chances to take on the Myles Standish monument hooked rug raffle. Meet and mingle with cousins and enjoy a day at “Grandma and Grandpa” Alden’s old house!

Artisans and Craft Fair
&
Standish Monument Rug Raffle

This year we are pleased to continue the weekend festivities with our First Annual Alden Artisans and Craft Fair. On Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. you will have the opportunity to purchase some wonderful items from local artisans and crafters.

Also during the fair we will be raffling our newest rug designed and hooked by our friends in the Duxbury Rug Hookers group, which meets each month in the Alden Barn. This year’s rug of the Myles Standish Monument in Duxbury is an amazing recreation of a local treasure.  We are grateful for the generosity of our friends whose work has brought more than $11,000 in donations to the Alden House.

Rug tickets are $5.00 each, or 3 tickets for $10. You may use the attached tickets to enter the raffle and do not need to be in attendance to win.
