You are cordially invited
to the
113th Alden Kindred
Annual Meeting and
Family Reunion
Saturday, August 4, 2012
To family and friends! Join us at the Alden Homestead for our annual meeting and reunion. Following our business meeting and luncheon, we will have a presentation by Paula Marcoux, an expert in early cooking technologies, food and oven building.
At first glance today, it may be hard to imagine the Alden property as it stood for most of its existence, but it was once a large rural farm. Ms. Marcoux’s talk will provide a discussion of colonial cooking methods and techniques.
Throughout the day, there will be interesting items to bid on in our Silent Auction and chances to take on the Leaves of New England hooked rug raffle. Meet and mingle with cousins and enjoy a day at “Grandma and Grandpa” Alden’s old house!

New Coastal Garden
at the Alden House
The Alden House is proud to display its new coastal garden that was created with the help of the Duxbury Community Garden Club and Troup 62 of the Duxbury Boy Scouts. Located in front of the Kitchen “El,” this garden project has improved the look of the house, while highlighting some flora used during the nineteenth century.
This garden will be phase one in a multiple phase program aimed at improving the grounds of the Alden House. The Kindred will continue to collaborate with the Garden Club on new improvements to the property over the next few years. While you are enjoying the reunion be sure to take a walk around and enjoy the new garden! |

After lunch we, will be raffling our newest rug designed and hooked by our friends in the Duxbury Rug Hookers group, which meets each month in the Alden Barn. This year’s rug of the Leaves of New England is a wonderful depiction of some of the local flora of the region. We are grateful for the generosity of our friends whose work has brought more than $12,000 in donations to the Alden House
Rug tickets are $5.00 each, or 3 tickets for $10. You may print out and use the tickets below to enter the raffle and do not need to be in attendance to win.
