We will soon announce another major update to the 8 Generation project available on CD for your personal use.

The CDs contains HTML files which are similar to those you see in the Genealogy portion of our web, as well as the related Notes and Citations files. They also contains a GEDCOM file of the 8 generations, which you can import into your own genealogy program.

The last CD, updated as of October 1, 2006 contained entries for 54,191 descendants (and spouses of descendants) of John and Priscilla through 8 generations, as well as on 17,686 marriages of these same descendants. That is 10,000 more names than the 2003 edition, but the new one will have even more!

Platforms supported: Windows (98, NT4, ME, 2000 and XP), MAC OS

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

• 400 MHz Processor

• 128 Mg RAM

• Microsoft™ Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator™ Browser

• 50 Mg of space on hard drive if you plan to copy files to your hard drive

NOTE: You do not need to be connected to the internet to use this CD

The advantages of having the information on the CD include:

1. Due to space limitations, the GEDCOM file as well as the Notes and Citations files will never be provided on the website.

2. If one has a slow dialup, accessing the information will be much faster from the CD or from your hard drive.

No CDs are currently available from the Alden House Museum Shop, as the new version is still being prepared.
