2012 Nomination Application

The Speak for Thyself Award honors exceptional women who, in the spirit of Priscilla Mullins, make their own choices. Priscilla’s famous words to John Alden, “Speak for Thyself, John”, in reference to his query for her hand in marriage on behalf of Miles Standish, stands as a strong message to women of all generations who select their paths in life. Our honorees have the same spirit as Priscilla Mullins Alden and have stood up and made a difference as pioneers, advocates, community leaders and business leaders.

We invite you to nominate a woman who exemplifies the spirit and determination of Priscilla in her town, in her state, or in her nation. On May 18, 2012, we will honor the women at our 6th Speak for Thyself Awards Dinner to be held at the Senior Center in Duxbury , MA. Past recipients include: Barbara Bush, Doreen Bilezikian, Donna Green Loretta LaRoche, Helen Philbrick, Pine DuBois, Marianne Leone Cooper, Phyllis P. Godwin, Elizabeth Nightingale, Anne Antonellis, Hollis “Holly” Morris, Betsy Sullivan, Tania Cooper Pariola, Emily Zoltowski, Therese Murray, Paula Harris, Dorothy “Dolly” Snow Bicknell, and Joanne Moore.

Nominations deadline is: December 31, 2011. This is a “once in a lifetime” award and any or all of the following attributes should be considered when submitting a name for consideration. The nominee should be a woman who has made choices for herself and excels in one, or more, of the following areas:

  • Pioneer
  • Advocate
  • Community Leader
  • Business Leader

The nominees chosen to receive the 2012 Speak for Thyself award will be asked to supply a photograph and must be available to attend the award ceremony on May 18, 2012 in Duxbury, MA.
